The Caregiver Advantage Facilitator’s manual
The Caregiver Advantage (TCA) is a psycho-educational program designed for the family caregiver to create a community that fosters the development of self-care techniques, in an ongoing, safe, and sustaining way.
TCA program materials, in seven weekly, three-hour sessions, guide participants through sequential steps designed to help them emerge from isolation and burden to begin to access self-care and share their caregiving experiences.
“I liked the focus on a caregiver topic each time and the discussions: this was very helpful. I learned about self care and my own choices in caregiving. I can face the changes as they come, knowing I can ask for help from this group. I learned how to ask for help even from family and friends now.” TCA participant
TCA introduces strategies in well being, engaging participants in the creative process, allowing them to express their feelings, frustrations, and emotions using a variety of mediums, including art, movement, and journaling.
Facilitator guidelines for using the simple materials listed are included in the manual.
